25th Annual Night Time Santa Parade

We’ll be celebrating our 25th year in 2011. Please join us by celebrating your favourite theme from the past. Revisit an idea that was just too much fun not to do again, or revamp one that didn’t quite do as planned. Either or, get your thinking caps on now to make this ‘the best one ever’. We look forward to a fun filled night with all the folks that show up every year and all the new ones that plan on joining us for the first time. Details regarding the route, start time and registration forms will be posted here as they are finalized. See you at the parade.

WPCA on the Chucks

With the recent case of the Neurotropic Equine Herpes Virus – 1 (nEHV-1) in Southern Alberta the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) and its Race Committees are taking the health and care of the horses very seriously. This means understanding nEHV-1, its causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatments as the WPCA prepares for the 2011 Dodge Pro Tour Season.

It is with this knowledge that the WPCA will travel to Grande Prairie for the first stop of the tour on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. At this moment nEHV-1 is being properly contained in Southern Alberta thanks to early detection and preventative care being taken.

The virus takes 21 days of quarantine to clear out, and thanks to quick work of the High River Ag Society this means everything will be gone by the beginning of the North American Chuckwagon Championships in High River. With proper precautions being taken the WPCA is confident this Equine Virus will have no effect on its horses or race season.
Please direct any questions regarding the status of the WPCA or nEHV-1 to the High River Ag Society, 403-652-3336 or the WPCA Office.
