The Town invites you to a Webinar

You are invited to attend a FREE Roger Brooks WEBINAR on Monday April 8, 2013 from 10am – 11:30am at the Town of High River’s Council Chambers, presented by the Town of High River Business & Tourism Development office.

Topic: “Rule of Critical Mass”
Over five years, Roger Brooks and the DDI team researched 400 successful downtowns and downtown districts in the U.S. and Canada uncovering the 20 most common ingredients that lead to their success. At least half of these downtowns are in smaller or rural communities. And of the 20 ingredients, the “Rule of Critical Mass” is the one ingredient every single successful downtown had. And in every case, it was the most important thing to making them successful.

People want downtowns more than ever. But because downtowns can’t get property owners on the same page, pulling in the same direction, developers are building new downtowns referred to as Lifestyle Retail Centers, mimicking traditional downtowns. Even malls are now following suit. The one thing they ALL have in common? The clustering of like businesses grouped together. In this lively, and extraordinarily important webinar, you’ll learn the five steps to creating the critical mass that will make your downtown a destination for both local residents and visitors.

Told through case histories, we’ll showcase the difference it has made in six downtowns or downtown districts.

Who should attend this webinar?
• Local elected officials, city/town senior staff
• Planning department heads AND staff members
• Downtown property owners (YES!)
• Commercial real estate agents
• Downtown organizations & officials
• Economic development practitioners
• Urban planning professionals

The presenter, Roger Brooks, CEO of Destination Development International, is one of North America’s most sought after experts in the creation of great destinations. Roger and his team have worked with nearly 1000 communities, successfully guiding them in their community branding, revitalization, and marketing efforts. He is well-known for energizing communities into action ¬- providing ideas they can implement today to make a difference tomorrow.

Letting Go: Passwords, Protection and Best Practices

During this session we will look at the issues and procedures for protecting yourself, your organization and even the person you are letting go. We will explore password security, network security, and information security. Most of the discussion will relate to preventing issues but we will also look at secure shutdown procedures for extreme situations. This session will be informative, interesting and practical.

We ask that everyone who plans to attend kindly RSVP to Lynette at the Chamber office, 403 652 3336 so we are able to assure adequate seating for all. Please RSVP on or before March 19th.
