Message from the President
My name is Steven Muth and I am the current President of the High River & District Chamber of Commerce. I would like to take this opportunity to first wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season from everyone at the Chamber.
I would also like to reach out to all businesses in and around High River to either renew their Chamber membership for 2018 or purchase a new membership if you are not currently a member.
There are many reasons to join your fellow business owners in the Chamber. Some of them are financially tangible such as the ability for your business to participate in the Chamber Group Health Plan. This is a country wide professionally managed group plan providing health and dental benefits to Chamber members and their employees. The plan is designed specifically for small businesses in Canada and can provide affordable coverage to businesses with as few as 1 – 2 employees which include the owners of the business. Members get all the benefits, coverage and affordable pricing of a very large group plan and also get the benefits of a plan tailored to small employers with personal service to match. Many of our members find that just being part of this group plan pays for their membership several times over and all the other benefits are a bonus.
There are also less tangible reasons to join. The one that I personally feel the strongest about is the various opportunities during the year to meet and interact with your fellow High River business owners. No matter the size of your business, the industry you are in or the number of staff you have, we all have some of the same challenges. Unfortunately, our business and personal lives take up so much time we rarely force ourselves to get to know the other business owners in town, even if they are right next door. We have an incredible array and variety of businesses in town and that continues to grow everyday so it is tough to keep a handle on all the different services that are offered in High River. The events that the Chamber holds during the year have the main focus of having business owners come together to get to know one another and learn from each other. We all take training from time to time and listen to various speakers and that is helpful but sometimes our best learning and lessons come from those around us who are experiencing the same challenges and successes in the same community and that is one of the aspects that the High River & District Chamber of Commerce wants to incubate and see grow. All businesses are strong on their own in various ways but when we all come together under the umbrella of a group like the Chamber, we are exponentially stronger and can accomplish great things.
I invite all businesses in our community to visit www.hrchamber.ca and download a copy of a membership form and sign up. For those businesses that have not been a member previously, we have some incentives for your first year of membership to help your transition into the group. Also, please sign up for our email list or if you have questions, please reach out to any of the board members listed on the website and we will be happy to discuss our positive experiences we have had being a part of the Chamber.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing many of you at our events in 2018. Merry Christmas and all the best for a healthy and prosperous 2018 from all of us at the High River & District Chamber of Commerce.
Steven Muth, President
