Town of High River Cannabis Survey

Smoking of cannabis is set to be federally legalized October 17, 2018 and the Town of High River would like to understand residents’ and business owners’ opinions regarding public consumption of cannabis and smoking in public spaces (sidewalks, streets, pathways etc.) and would like to invite them to participate in our online survey.

It is our intention to have as many High River residents informed and we are asking if you would be so kind as to participate in this survey.

We thank you in advance for your support in helping the town understand residents’ opinions regarding the creation of the Cannabis Consumption Bylaw and Smoking Bylaw update.

If you have any questions please contact Mr. Peter Genereux at 403.603.3583.

Community Futures Loan Discount Program

Community Futures has a new opportunity for loan clients and prospective loan clients who participate in our Creative Self Employment Program. The Creative Self Employment Program is focused on getting the youth in our communities involved in business and helping them create their own self-employment opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship. However, another focus of ours is pairing these youth up with local business owners to act as mentors, providing experience and knowledge for the youth to reach their fullest potential, as an incentive for our local business owners to get involved we are offering two loan discount opportunities.  One is for our local business owners to refer youth to the program and one is for business owners to become mentors to youth in their community.

If you have any questions, you can contact myself or Billie at (403)995-4151 or by email at  and .

Thank you.

Centre Street Bridge Closure

Looks like the Centre Street Bridge in High River’s going to be closed for a long stretch this week.

After some back and forth over dates, the Town says the bridge will close Tuesday, July 24 and stay closed Wednesday, July 25, and Thursday, July 26.

It’s all to accommodate work on the flood gate and give crews an extra day to ensure underground utilities aren’t being damaged.

The Town suggests using 5th Street S.E. to 498th Avenue as an alternate route.

You can also take 20th Avenue N.E. to 498th.

The Town hopes to have the flood gate construction wrapped up by late October.

save the date for the co-working results

Hi all,

On June 14th – 5:30 pm at the High River Town Hall. The results will be presented.

Please plan to attend so YOU can be part of the discussion and share your input on next steps. We are getting inquiries, the demand is there.

Look forward to seeing everyone.
