Livingstone-Macleod Candidate Forum

Livingstone-Macleod Candidate Forum

Livingstone-Macleod Candidates Forum in High River, May 16th
- High River, Alberta -

The High River Chamber of Commerce is announcing it will hold a provincial candidates forum on May 16, 2023 at the Highwood Centre; doors open at 6:30 PM, forum starts at 7:00 PM sharp to hear how business issues will be addressed by hopefuls seeking election in the upcoming Alberta election on May 29th.

Questions for candidates will come from the public in advance or in writing at the forum and some will focus on Vote Prosperity 2023, a non-partisan and non-candidate specific campaign of business priorities launched by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce network. Vote Prosperity 2023 provides a series of proactive recommendations 115 community chambers – representing 24,000 job creators - are encouraging all Alberta political parties to adopt to support economic growth and shared opportunity for Albertans.

Vote Prosperity is based on four aspirational pillars for Alberta:

  • Strengthening Business Competitiveness
Rising input costs, especially those costs deriving from government regulation and policy, are the most common and acute concern of the business community in Alberta.

  • Growing Provincial Trade
Alberta’s opportunity is  to continue working with the private sector, First Nations, municipalities, and Confederation partners to enhance existing infrastructure and establish new trade corridors.

  • Building Healthy Communities
Ensuring young Albertans develop real world skills to thrive in a future economy, access to sustainable and equitable healthcare, and well-maintained infrastructure that supports economic activity and business growth.

  • Improving Government Accountability
Prudent fiscal management and simplified taxation are key measures of accountability and transparency.

"Business confidence is the highest measured since the Alberta chamber network began tracking following the 2019 Alberta election," said Shauna Feth, President and CEO, Alberta Chambers of Commerce. "Questions about our province’s economic competitiveness and fiscal stability, however, remain front and centre for Alberta business. Vote Prosperity 2023 is our chamber network’s response to those questions."
" Albertans are strong, resilient, and hardworking. Our entrepreneurial spirit is one of the things that sets us apart as a province. This campaign recognizes that. Through the recommendations of Vote Prosperity 2023, working from a foundation laid in previous elections, it is our goal to guide us towards economic growth and long-term prosperity."

The platform provides sixteen unique recommendations to address current pressing issues and bolster Alberta's long-term economic future.

Local candidates from all parties in the Livingstone-Macleod riding have been invited to participate in the forum being held May 16th at the Highwood Centre. The forum is open to public/members, and members of the community are encouraged to attend.
