Medical Office Assistant with Health Unit Coordinator – 18, 2018 Graduates

Successful graduates will achieve the Certified Medical Assisting Professional (CMAP) designation in addition to their diploma. These graduates are fully qualified to work in a hands-on administrative and clinical support capacity in the medical industry.

Skill development is delivered in four areas:

 

  • Comprehensive medical administrative knowledge
  • In-depth hospital administrative knowledge of nursing units
  • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications
  • On-site work experience through participation in a Clinical Placement at an approved healthcare facility

 

Medical Office Assistant with Veterinary – 2, 2018 Graduate

Successful graduates will be eligible to achieve the CMAP – Certified Medical Assisting Professional designation in addition to their diploma. These graduates are fully qualified to work in a hands-on administrative/clinical support capacity in any medical or veterinary industry.

Skill development is delivered in four areas:

 

  • Comprehensive medical administrative knowledge
  • Specialty Veterinary Administrative Assistant training to work in veterinary clinics and veterinary hospitals
  • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications
  • On-site work experience through participation in a clinical externship at an approved healthcare training facility

 

Community Service and Addictions Worker – 9, 2018 Graduates

Social and community service workers administer and implement a variety of social assistance programs and community services specializing in addictions. They assist clients to address personal and social problems.

This program provides students with the basic knowledge, skills, and work experience needed to become permanently employable in a CSW and AW setting. Skill development is delivered in three areas:

 

  • Comprehensive community service worker knowledge
  • Exploration into the world of addictions. Exploration into the world of addiction treatment and prevention.
  • Full range of computer and office skills, including current software applications
  • On-site work experience through participation in a 140-hour placement at an approved CSW facility

 

Dental Administration Assistant – 2, 2018 Graduates

Introduces students to the role of a Dental Administrative Assistant (DAA) in today’s dental industry. Covers topics such as General Dentistry, Head and Neck Anatomy, Dental Instruments, Pain control, Imaging, Dental surgeries, Administration of a dental office, and General Accounting.

 

Insurance Advisor -1, 2018 Graduates

This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to work in the insurance industry in a variety of different capacities, and may include careers within a call centre environment. It prepares students to write the provincial licensing examination. In addition, the program introduces students to different practices and positions within the industry. Students also gain skills and experience in using the most commonly used insurance database and quoting software in Canada.

 

Computerized Payroll Accounting – 2, 2018 Graduates

This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required for a payroll department. The student will become familiar with basic payroll practices and procedures, as well as the more complex aspects of payroll. With basic bookkeeping levels and the acquisition of one year of payroll experience, the student can then apply to the Canadian Payroll Association for Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification.

 

In addition to accounting and payroll expertise, students gain skills and experience in business correspondence, office procedures and management fundamentals.

 

Payroll Administrator – 1, 2018 Graduate

This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to perform payroll administrative duties in the payroll department and to apply payroll legislation. With basic bookkeeping levels and the acquisition of one year of payroll experience, the student can then apply to the Canadian Payroll Association for Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification.

 

In addition to accounting and payroll expertise, students gain skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheet applications and telephone communication skills

 

Entrepreneurial Business Applications – 1, 2018 Graduate

Graduates of this program obtain the necessary skills to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate their operations in order to provide goods or services to consumers, and ensure the quality of these goods/services and the satisfaction of their clients.

 

Administrative Assistant – 1, 2018 Graduate

This program provides graduates with the necessary skills to compile, verify, record, and process forms and documents, such as applications, agreements, and letter, in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and schedules. Students will be familiar with the most popular office software applications.

Registration is now open for the Santa Parade

Registration open for Santa Claus parade

The 30th Annual Santa Claus Parade will travel through High River’s beautifully decorated downtown on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The parade will feature over 60 entries and include family-friendly events like hay rides, live music, craft fair and more. Fire pits, hot dogs and hot chocolate along the parade route will ensure everyone stays warm while watching the parade.

Registration for the parade is now open and entry forms can be downloaded from www.choosehighriver.ca under the ‘ Things to do’ menu.

Insurance coverage for floats will be provided by a policy created specifically for the event by Co-operators, High River. There will be no need to send a confirmation of your insurance. Please note you are required to have valid vehicle insurance and registration.

Judging will be done during the parade this year and entries are encouraged to creatively engage the crowd, and have fun!
