Alberta Chambers of Commerce Vote Prosperity

As a voter in your riding, I believe in a prosperous Alberta, a province which is strongest when the business community and government work together. That is why the 2023 election arrives at such a pivotal moment.

When our province heads to the polls, I will vote for the candidate who is best suited to support the future prosperity of Alberta. That is why I am encouraging you to champion the recommendations of Vote Prosperity 2023, an initiative of the Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC) network. The ACC is a federation of 115 community chambers of commerce which, collectively, represent 24,000 job creators in the province. Ninety-five-percent of chamber members are small to medium sized business.

Vote Prosperity contains 16 recommendations that will help bolster Alberta's long-term economic outcomes while addressing the pressing issues of today. These recommendations are built on four fundamental pillars to support a strong economy in Alberta:

  1. Strengthening Business Competitiveness
Growing layers of costs and regulation are creating barriers to investment and job creation in Alberta. The opportunity for the next Alberta government is to continue creating a provincial environment that is business-friendly and to be a strong, constructive advocate federally for our industries and improving Canada’s global competitiveness.

  2. Growing Provincial Trade
Alberta’s economy depends on free trade and partnerships based on principles of reciprocity and mutual benefit. Expanding access to new markets and increasing trade encourages businesses to become more competitive, drives down costs, increases efficiency, and improve the quality and range of products and services available to consumers.

  3. Building Healthy Communities
Healthy people, enabled to pursue opportunity to their full potential, are the foundation of healthy communities. Global competition for talent is growing and businesses need a highly skilled workforce to compete and create opportunities in a dynamic economy. Implementing a comprehensive strategy to develop, attract and retain top talent is the next step to enhance initiatives that are improving labour mobility and credential recognition.

  4. Improving Government Accountability
A grassroots approach to improving government accountability will position the province for long term economic growth and Albertans for a high quality of life. Accountable and transparent governance helps attract investment, creating more job opportunities and economic growth over the long term. Prudent fiscal management and simplified taxation are key measures of accountability and transparency.

If successful in this election, you will be granted the privilege of helping to shape Alberta's future on behalf of our community. As my candidate, I ask of you three things:

  1. Read Vote Prosperity.

  2. Consult with your local chamber of commerce regarding its recommendations.

  3. Prioritize these issues throughout the election, both in your riding and within your party.

To ensure Alberta's economy has a strong foundation we must promote and implement public policies and regulation which fosters competitiveness, growth, and accountability. Join us in promoting a government committed to sustainable, shared prosperity for Albertans.
