Our Commitment to Ethical AI Use

At the High River Chamber of Commerce, innovation and integrity go hand in hand. As new technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) become part of everyday business, we believe it’s essential to use them responsibly, transparently, and with purpose. AI helps us work more efficiently so we can focus on what matters most — supporting and connecting the people behind our businesses. Every output from AI is reviewed by our team to ensure it reflects the values and voice of our community.

High River Chamber of Commerce – Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

Effective Date: November 2025
Last Reviewed: November 2025

Purpose

The High River Chamber of Commerce embraces innovation that strengthens our ability to serve and support our members. Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are occasionally used to improve efficiency, enhance communication, and support our mission to elevate local business. This policy outlines how and when AI may be used, and the ethical standards that guide its use.

Our Guiding Principles

  1. Transparency and Human Oversight
Every piece of AI-assisted content — from written materials to data summaries — is reviewed, edited, and approved by Chamber staff before being shared publicly or used internally.
AI is a support tool, not a decision-maker. Final judgment, creativity, and accountability always rest with our team.

  2. Ethical and Unbiased Use
We take deliberate care in crafting our AI prompts to encourage balanced, factual, and unbiased outputs.
AI will never be used to manipulate, mislead, or present information without appropriate context. Our goal is to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of our communications and operations.

  3. Human Connection at the Heart
The Chamber believes that meaningful relationships and community trust are built through authentic human interaction.
AI helps us streamline administrative tasks and increase efficiency — but it will never replace the human connection that defines our members, our community, or our organization.

  4. Privacy and Data Security
The Chamber does not input or share private member information with AI systems unless the data is encrypted, anonymized, and compliant with Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

  5. Accountability
The High River Chamber of Commerce retains full responsibility for all communications, programs, and materials — regardless of whether AI tools assisted in their preparation.

  6. Continuous Learning
As AI technology continues to evolve, so will our understanding and ethical practices. The Chamber remains committed to continuous evaluation of how AI impacts our work, ensuring that every use aligns with our mission to support and elevate the business community of High River.

Examples of Acceptable AI Use

  • Drafting communication materials (e.g., newsletters, announcements, policy statements) — always human-reviewed before publication.

  • Supporting administrative efficiency, research, and data organization.

  • Assisting in generating ideas for education programs and marketing strategies — never for autonomous or unverified decision-making.

The Chamber does not use AI to make independent decisions about members, membership status, funding, or advocacy positions.
